The latest news in celebrity real estate is that Harrison Ford is selling a Brentwood estate he's owned for nearly 30 years, and a Chicago penthouse once owned by John Cusack is for sale.
Eighteen months after buying a $12.65 million mansion with his third wife Calista Flockhart, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" star Harrison Ford has listed his pristine country Colonial home he's owned for almost 30 years on the Brentwood real estate market in Los Angeles for $8,295,000.
According to The Real Estalker, Ford acquired the Gerard Colcord-designed, country Colonial home in June 1983 for $1 million, which places the purchase date about six years after the 1977 release of "Star Wars,'' for which Ford earned an Academy Award nomination, and about two years after the 1981 release of "Raiders."
Guess it's finally time to move on, although given the meticulous remodel that appears to have spared little cost and given tremendous attention to detail, Ford's home has been a master work in progress with polished wood floors, moldings and many built-ins. Delete
Born and raised in Chicago, actor John Cusack has long dismissed the glitz and glamor that comes with living in Hollywood. Although it has been some time since Cusack lived in this apartment, he still calls the Windy City home.
Cusack's former property is a penthouse with spectacular views of downtown and "all the way to Indiana," but is nearly as unpretentious as the actor himself. Priced at $1.15 million -- relatively low for Chicago Gold Coast real estate -- the home features hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open floor plan.
The 3-bedroom, 3-bath apartment was built in 1972 and has 2,600 square feet of living space.
